The Pulse: Advanced Screenshot & Recording Controls

Real connection requires a space where you can actually be yourself—unfiltered, present, and free from the anxiety that your private moment might be captured or shared without your permission. When you go live during a Pulse window, your privacy isn't negotiable.
That is why I am excited to share another major investment into safety and security: I have officially implemented native screenshot and screen-recording controls across both Android and iOS.
The app as a whole remains in active development and has not officially launched yet, but hardening our privacy infrastructure is a non-negotiable priority before real users step into live video calls. This update ensures that what happens during a live Pulse stays inside the moment.
How the Protection Works Across Devices
Mobile operating systems handle hardware permissions differently, so I engineered tailored defenses for both major ecosystems:
• Android Enforcement: System-level flags automatically block screen captures and recordings. If a user attempts to screenshot or record a live video stream, the operating system instantly renders the captured screen completely black, protecting user privacy at the hardware level.
• iOS Violation Flow: Because iOS handles media capture differently, attempting to record or capture a live screen triggers an immediate, automated guideline violation flow. The app detects the capture event instantly, halts the interaction, and flags the account for review—ensuring bad actors are held accountable right away.
An Ongoing Investment in Real Safety
These anti-capture controls work hand-in-hand with our newly finalized multi-layer verification suite—including email, SMS, and selfie liveness verification—as well as our invisible device-fingerprinting security layers.
Building Kova with absolute intention means making safety a foundational pillar rather than an afterthought. You deserve a live video environment built on mutual respect and equal agency, and these technical layers are designed to protect that standard from day one.
